Basic Seminar - IBLP - Bill Gothard

IBLP  (Institute in Basic Life Principles)  started in (Oak Brook, a suburb of) Chicago, Illinois in 1961. It was initially a local youth outreach, founded by Bill Gothard. Over the course of several years and much prayer - this became the: "Institute in Basic Youth Conflicts" and expanded into week-long seminars that reached out across the US, and even internationally by the 1970s. Arenas and convention centers would be filled with thousands of believers in major cities!

Bill Gothard and his team built an excellent program to teach Biblical principles and dealing with common life problems and the Bible's answers.  "Wisdom is the principle thing" we learn from the Book of Proverbs, written by Solomon. This is still true as God and His Word are unchanging.

In the 1970s and 1980s and continuing still today - over 2.5 million people around the world have learned how the Bible has lasting answers to life’s challenges and choices. There are 19 seminars altogether! In recent years these pivotal seminars have been translated into:  Arabic,  Cantonese,  Chinese (Mandarin),  German,  Korean,  Mongolian,  Romanian and  Russian.   (See LINKS below.)

Formerly based in Oak Brook, Illinois, the IBLP team moved to the city of Big Sandy, Texas; with international offices in:  Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It needs to be mentioned that Bill Gothard himself later fell into sin. He is no longer directly involved with IBLP. But his former work, his wisdom, and his tireless efforts are still giving to believers today. We must recall that Solomon, though a man with much wisdom, also later fell into sin, but his wisdom books are still in the Bible.  "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."
