ICE AGE

ICE AGE - Among creationists there are two or three schools of thought for handling the: "Ice Epoch." The dominant theory is that the ice age/epoch was a direct result of the Great Flood, at about 1600 years into human history (i.e. approximately 4400 years ago). Creationist theorized Catastrophic Plate Tectonics contends that the Earth's plates suddenly shifted radically, causing waters to wash over the continents, catalyzing volcanic activity (the fountains of the deep), and later - after the Great Flood - global cooling which resulted in the successive Ice Age(s) that we see evidenced in the Northern Hemisphere. Both the Institute for Creation Research and Answers in Genesis, among other creationist organizations are proponents of this theory.

Under the Hydroplate Theory (Dr. Walt Brown is a primary proponent of this theory) water from within the crust broke free and was suddenly released, spraying high into the upper atmosphere where it became super-chilled. As it descended it covered vast areas of the higher latitudes and even dispensed some ice in the Middle East, as is evidenced by the several mentions of ice in the very ancient book of Job (now a book of the Bible, placed just ahead of Psalms). Job was actually penned much earlier than Genesis.

Another minority theory is that ice rained down into the atmosphere at the very outset of the Flood, possibly under a Cometary Bombardment Theory or via cometary fragments. (Mr. Donald W. Patten and Dr. Kent Hovind, among others are proponents of this theory.) Noah evidently did not witness either event (if any current theory is even correct, of course) as nothing about ice is in his report given in Genesis 7-8. But the introduction of super-chilled ice could have helped catalyze the 40 days of rain that were part of the total of 150 days of rising water (as recorded in Genesis), similar to how we seed rainclouds today with dry ice or by dropping in other simple chemicals. The canopy (or waters above) would then have collapsed into rapid condensation or: rain.

There appears to be evidence for all three theories, at least in part. We do not know that the continental plates may have once shifted dramatically for a short period of time. And the fountains of the deep were reported by Noah to have all began erupting at once. And surely comets or meteorites have hit the Earth and its atmosphere without warning many times in the past.

The Great Flood (and associated Ice Age -or- Ice Epoch) was a one-time cataclysmic event. For the Ice Age portion vast areas were frozen down until today. In fact some of the mammoths that have been found retain "fresh" meat and still undigested food - frozen in their stomachs!

How many seconds does it take to swallow? Many of the quick-frozen mammoths still had food in their mouths when they were killed-frozen. We find them today still in this condition. A big animal normally cools slowly upon its death; and the water and blood in its body begin to separate by weight. Also the digestive juices should have continued acting for hours, even after death. But some of these mammoths were suddenly killed-frozen! What caused this? It must have been very cold ice indeed, by theory, as the evidence appears to show that they went from grazing at mid-meal to frozen to the core quickly. Did they not notice a sudden danger descending from above? They didn't even have time to swallow. The wishful notion that mammoths trudged through snow then sometimes fell into an icy lake is preposterous.  (The evolutionists sure have good artists to illustrate their beliefs though, don't they?)  The one thing the mammoth evidence clearly shows is that is was not an "age" that came slowly.

In some areas of Greenland and Antarctica the ice remaining today is still over 10,000 feet thick.  The Ice Epoch (or: Ice Age), however it did happen, surely appears to have been unique and perhaps catastrophic in nature.  (text by P.A.)
