The Ark of Noah

Basic Points are:
A) Noah is given essential information only; much is left to his knowledge of the animal kingdom, his intelligence and available craftsmanship/wood techniques.
B) The whole question of Divine Judgement is central to the catastrophe; with this goes the moral issues of rebellion against God, original sin, obedience, faith and one's spiritual influence on others.
C) The actual Hebrew vocabulary is vital to understanding these issues.
D) The New Testament references to the Deluge must be read in conjunction with the Genesis account: both the Lord's own Words, and the verses in Hebrews and the Epistles.
E) We must ever remember that the Holy and Righteous Nature of God Himself cannot be denied.
Note: Many evangelicals do not study the Scriptures carefully,
nor look up vocabulary in a concordance: modern versions are automatically
deemed to be accurate and the distinctions between paraphrases, translations
and transliterations are easily overlooked.)
Some Facts Regarding Noah's Ark
A) The waterproof coating to the timbers of the Ark involves basic truth.
B) The twin application of this material inside the vessel was essential.
C) The Hebrew word kaphar, translated as "pitch" is only an interpretation.
D) The Hebrew word zepheth, meaning pitch/bitumen/slime is not found here but in Exodus 2:3 (waterproofing Moses' ark of bulrushes).
E) kaphar (Hebrew: to cover/make a covering) occurs once in Genesis 6:14, but nearly 100 times in the Pentateuch in the context of "atonement".
F) "Atonement" is always linked with the blood of
a sacrifice in OT & NT (Old and New Testaments) where it infers that
the price of redemption has been paid, and the threat of judgement removed
from the transgressor who is "covered".
