Apocryphal Books

There are a variety of ancient books contending to be related to the Bible. Each claims to hold "hidden truths." Some do have good information, but others are outright deceptive and should be avoided.

Remember the first temptation of Eve by the Serpent. Genesis 3:1b "...Yea, hath God said, ...?" He questioned God's Words.

The Serpent then mixed truth with deception in order to deceive.

On the whole, apocryphal books should be avoided by young Christians. They are not Scripture. Only the 66 books of the Bible are true Scripture.

Two apocryphal books that do appear to have good or interesting information in them are the Book of Jasher and the Book of Enoch.

Some of the bad ones include the so-called Gospel of Thomas or the so-called Gospel of Judas. Again - do not seek them out. The serpent wants to deceive by mixing in error. Spend a few years getting comfortable with truth, i.e. with the 66 books of the Holy Bible. Only after that should one with discernment begin to study any of the apocryphal books.

(Common Apocryphal Books include)
